Back in the spring, our buds over at Duross + Langel, the Midtown Village purveyors of the most glorious and locally made lotions, potions and soaps (if you’re not slathering yourself in D+L Buttercream on the daily, you’re doing it wrong) expanded in two super cool ways: They opened a yoga studio and a salon, all above and attached to the 13th Street boutique.
Co-owner Steve Duross wanted to get the salon settled and underway before diving into the waters of bridal beauty—and now, with both expert bridal hairstylists and makeup artists on staff—not to mention a salon space that’s made for gathering and lounging—they’re ready to make a splash.
The Salon has various package options for you, your girls and the dudes, whether you wish for their stylists to come to you, or you opt to set up shop with some champagne and nibbles, and hang out while everyone gets dolled up. They can do everyone's hair, makeup (or just lashes), can provide the bubbly and nosh, if you so choose, and they even have one package (the Zen Out) that brings everyone up into the yoga studio for some meditation, breath work and stretching before getting beautified, so you can get into the right I'm-about-to-get-married headspace with your best friends before setting out on your day.
The wood-and-leather space feels homey instead of sleek, and the salon's light-filled nooks are comfy spaces meant for gathering. "When we envisioned the space as a salon, we wanted to create a comfortable, natural environment that did not have the look or feel of a salon," says Steve Duross. "It’s about great service, always, of course ... but it’s also about the way you feel throughout the experience. Wedding parties just move the needle a bit further toward making our workspace a salon in the truest sense of the word—a place where people come together."
